Hearing Tests and Hearing Aids

Hearing Tests

Your hearing health is an important part of your overall well-being. That’s why we offer comprehensive hearing evaluations and regular hearing testing to help you stay up to date on your hearing health.

Do I Need a Hearing Test?

Many people may experience gradual hearing loss without realizing it at first. Here are a few signs to book a hearing test:
Difficulty Understanding Conversations

Struggling to follow discussions, especially in noisy environments or in groups, can be a sign of hearing loss.

If you find yourself frequently asking others to repeat themselves or misunderstanding what is being said, it’s a sign that you’re not hearing clearly.

Needing to turn up the volume on the TV, radio, or mobile phone louder than what others find comfortable can be a sign of hearing decline.

Difficulty hearing high-pitched noises, such as the beeping of a microwave or the chirping of birds, might indicate hearing loss.

A sensation of fullness or pressure in your ears can sometimes be related to hearing loss and should prompt a hearing test.

If you’re having a hard time understanding what’s being said on the phone, despite a clear connection, it might be due to hearing loss.

Risk Factors for Hearing Loss

Several factors can increase your risk of hearing loss, including age, exposure to noisy environments, genetic predisposition, and certain medical conditions. Being aware of these factors can help you determine the right time to seek a professional evaluation.
Professional hearing assessments go beyond simple hearing checks. We provide a comprehensive evaluation of your hearing health, identify specific areas of concern, and help you find the right treatment options.

Benefits of Regular Hearing Tests

Early Detection of Hearing Loss

Regular hearing tests allow for the early detection of hearing loss, often before you realize your hearing has changed. Early detection leads to more effective management and an easier time adjusting to new hearing aids.

Improved Communication and Social Interaction

Detecting and addressing hearing loss early can improve your communication. This leads to more meaningful social interactions and minimizes feelings of isolation.

Enhanced Cognitive Health

Recent studies have linked untreated hearing loss to cognitive decline. By treating hearing loss with the right interventions, you can protect your cognitive health and maintain your quality of life.

Types of Hearing Tests

We use several different types of hearing loss to find out more about your hearing. Some of our tests include:
Pure Tone Testing
This is one of the most common types of hearing tests. It measures your ability to hear at different pitches and volumes, helping to identify the quietest sounds you can hear at each frequency.
This test evaluates your ability to hear and understand speech in quiet and in noise, providing a clear picture of how hearing loss impacts your daily life. You’ll listen to words and phrases, and repeat back what you hear.
Tympanometry assesses the functioning of the middle ear to detect issues like fluid buildup, ear infections, or eardrum perforations that could affect hearing.

The ABR test measures how the inner ear and auditory pathways to the brain respond to sound. It’s particularly useful for screening hearing loss in infants and young children.

The OAE test determines whether the hair cells within the cochlea are functioning properly. This test can detect damage to the cochlea, as well as detect other concerns like a blockage in the ear canal.
